Kristin Leigh Butler is a versatile editor, copywriter and journalist. She covers entrepreneurs and cultural innovators for various publications, and helps nonprofits and businesses define their brands. A Texas transplant, she resides in Brooklyn, New York.
Kristin currently handles copywriting for the only tribally owned insurance company in the United States, as well as a forthcoming fitness studio in New York City, among other startups, through Suzanne Sobel, founder of SMS Synergies, LLC, a company focused on helping organizations thrive in today’s rapidly changing environment. She additionally freelances for various news sites, such as CultureMap, a lifestyle and entertainment website, and the Motion Picture Association of America’s Where to Watch – The Credits blog. Attention to detail, accuracy and clarity define her work.
For the last seven years, Kristin edited and published content daily for the largest international website dedicated to Native American culture and news, Indian Country Media Network (1.2 million unique visitors per month). As the business and health editor, she cultivated and managed a team of freelance writers, optimized keywords for search and posted articles online. She profiled entrepreneurs and innovators in the health and food sovereignty movements. She reported on environmental concerns, as well as health, financial and socio-economic disparities that hinder progress—and the change agents, activists and philanthropists creating opportunity and empowering indigenous resilience.
Motivated by an insatiable thirst for insight and knowledge, Kristin consumes books, speeches, videos and podcasts by modern-day influencers, innovators and visionaries. A lover of meaningful and important conversations, she regularly attends Times Talks, New York Open Center sessions, and interviews at events like The New Yorker Festival.
